Aquablation

What is Aquablation?

  • Robotic Aquablation is a novel minimally invasive endoscopic robotic BPH treatment that can effectively treat prostate enlargement regardless of prostate size (up to 150cc)

  • Patients get significant urinary symptom relief from benign prostatic bladder outlet obstruction with minimal surgical risk and typically less sexual side effects than other ablative BPH treatments (TURP, Laser, etc.)

  • Aquablation is an Image Guided Robotically-Assisted Waterjet Ablation of the prostate. This minimally invasive endoscopic approach combines real-time imaging, robotics, and waterjet ablation. After defining the treatment contour using imaging, the robot is programmed to precisely and efficiently remove the prostate tissue enlargement previously defined and included within the treatment zone. This water based treatment avoids the risk of side effects or complications caused by heat-based treatments

AQUABLATION

How does it work?

  • At the beginning of the procedure, your surgeon will use multi-dimensional imaging to accurately plan a personalized treatment based on the specific anatomy of your prostate

  • The AQUABEAM System robot autonomously executes with precision the treatment plan. The heat-free waterjet removes the excess prostate tissue within a few minutes

Why choose Aquablation?

  • The robotic execution allows for a short resection time and consistent, reproducible results regardless of prostate anatomy

  • Aquablation therapy is performed in the operating room, either under spinal or general anesthesia

  • No stent or implant device

  • 1 night hospital stay

  • Patients can get significant symptom relief with less risk of side effects that impact their quality of life compared to the surgical gold-standard TURP

  • Preservation of ejaculatory function in the majority of cases

  • Efficacious treatment regardless of prostate size

  • The urinary catheter is generally kept for a few days and will be removed at the office

  • You can usually resume your normal activities after 1 week
