GreenLight Laser Therapy

What is GreenLight Laser Therapy?

GreenLight Laser Therapy is an outpatient procedure that is used to treat Benign Prostate Hyperplasia (enlarged prostate). The therapy uses laser technology to remove your overgrown prostate tissue and restore natural urine flow.

GreenLight Laser Therapy is an option even if you are on anticoagulants or blood thinners.

How does it work?

  • GreenLight laser with wavelength of 532 nm is selectively absorbed by hemoglobin in the prostatic tissue

  • When the energy from the laser beam is concentrated on the treatment area, it is converted in thermal energy which progressively heats the tissue >100C and vaporization with a penetration depth of 0.8mm

  • The defect created restores the natural urinary flow

  • The selective absorption by Hb confers enhanced hemostatic properties and reduced bleeding related complications
